Emma Kyoungseo Hong

Welcome!

I am a PhD candidate in International Business & Strategy in the Management and Global Business Department at Rutgers Business School - Newark and New Brunswick.

I study corporate political activity and the role of investors in shaping it, examining how ownership structure and investor identity influence which political issues firms lobby on and how they engage in the political arena. A related stream of my work examines how multinational firms manage sustainability and stakeholder relationships across different institutional environments. My work has been published in the Journal of International Business Studies and Harvard Business Review.

Before starting my PhD, I gained research experience at NYU's Center on U.S.-China Relations and the UN Sustainable Development Group, which shaped my interest in the intersection of international business, politics, and societal challenges. I earned an MA from New York University and a BA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

I will be on the 2026-2027 Job Market.
